# Other People At ANGLO Centres

#### Students

ANGLO students vary in age from 10 to 18, though the majority of students are in the 13-16 bracket. All students have been learning English in their home countries for a number of years and come to the UK to put into practise the skills they have acquired and to discover UK culture. Naturally, students have varying levels of English so it is important to be patient and to speak clearly when giving instructions. Students are usually very keen to practise their English and learn more about you - this is a great way to bond and foster an excellent environment for speaking English.

Most students come as part of a group accompanied by a [Group Leader](#bkmrk-group-leaders) but there are also individual students. All ANGLO staff play a part in keeping students safe and engaged.

#### Group Leaders

Group Leaders are adults who accompany groups of students on ANGLO programmes. They act as chaperones and are directly responsible for students' wellbeing. They are often the students' school teacher in their home country. They can be approached for any assistance that may be required in relation to their students. For ANGLO staff, working with Group Leaders is just as important as working with students to ensure a successful implementation of the programme.

#### University Staff

University staff are external to ANGLO but form an essential part of the resources required to run our summer programmes. These staff could include cooks, conference staff, security, sports staff, caretakers, cleaners among others. It is very important to be polite and cooperative with university staff as often you will be working alongside them for several weeks. You should recognise that you are representing ANGLO when you are communicating with them, and as such should make a lasting, positive impression.

# Lanyards

ANGLO lanyards are issued to all members of staff, group leaders and visitors

All ANGLO staff must wear their ANGLO lanyard complete with name badge at all times while carrying out working duties.

We kindly ask all staff to stop and challenge ANGLO students that are not wearing their lanyard. Identifying our staff and students is a fundamental part of keeping everybody safe.
